Dr. Alaa Al Minshawi is a distinguished Egyptologist and academic leader currently serving as the General Director of the Luxor Museum of Ancient Egyptian Art. With a PhD in Archaeology from Minia University and over 15 years of field and administrative experience, he has become a pivotal figure in the preservation and promotion of Egypt's cultural heritage. His career is defined by a unique blend of rigorous academic lecturing and hands-on archaeological supervision across some of the world's most significant historical sites.
Throughout his tenure with the Ministry of Antiquities, Dr. Al Minshawi has managed critical excavations and restoration projects in the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Monkeys, and the Luxor West Bank. He has collaborated extensively with prestigious international missions, including the Polish Mission at Deir el-Bahari, the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE), and the University of Basel. His expertise in epigraphy and site management was further honed through advanced field schools at TT110 and the pyramid of King Khoui in Assiut.
In his current leadership role at the Luxor Museum, Dr. Al Minshawi oversees all museum operations, from strategic budget planning and staff capacity building to the curation of high-profile temporary exhibitions such as "Nefert" and "The Treasures of Vizier Amen-Hotep Huy". His commitment to excellence led the museum to receive the UNESCO Egypt Award for Best Museum in Exhibition Organization in 2023.
Beyond administration, Dr. Al Minshawi is a dedicated educator who has lectured at Assiut, Aswan, and New Valley Universities. His global perspective is enriched by international professional development, including the International Summer School for Museums in Germany, the International Training Programme at the British Museum, and cultural cooperation initiatives in South Korea and China. Fluent in English and communicative in French, he remains at the forefront of international archaeological discourse.
