    Dr. Bhakti (bhak·ti) Gala is an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Science at Central University of Gujarat, India, and she received her doctorate from the Department of Library and Information Science at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India. Her research work lies at the intersection of cultural heritage resource discovery, metadata, information literacy, public libraries, digital libraries, and open and equitable access to information. She has published her research in leading journals such as the Journal of Librarianship and Information Science, Information Processing and Management, Library and Information Science Research, Library Quarterly, First Monday, and the DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology, as well as in conference proceedings published by Wiley, ACM, and Springer Nature, among others. Dr. Gala has worked on research projects funded by OCLC/ALISE, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, ASIS&T, and the University of Hong Kong. She has been volunteering as a Director-at-Large with the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), USA, since 2023. Dr. Gala is the recipient of the 2022 Cretsos Leadership Award from ASIS&T, USA, the 2014 Best Research Paper Award from the Special Interest Group on International Information Issues (SIG-III, ASIS&T), and the ICSSR Springer Nature Women Researcher Recognition at the Central University of Gujarat in 2024. She is also a 2014 Mortenson Associate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
