Chiranthi Wijesundara is presently employed as a senior librarian at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. With over 15 years of experience as an academic librarian, she has previously held positions at various private institutions. Dr. Wijesundara obtained her doctoral degree in Informatics and MSc in Library, Information and Media Studies from the Graduate School of Library, Information and Media Studies at the University of Tsukuba, Japan. Prior to pursuing higher education abroad, she earned a BA degree in Archaeology with first-class honours and an MSc in Geo-Information from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Dr. Wijesundara holds memberships in several professional organizations, including ASIS&T (Association for Information Science and Technology) and GISSL (Geo-Information Society of Sri Lanka). Concurrently, she serves as a program coordinator for the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) programme and as a visiting lecturer at the National Institute of Library and Information Sciences (NILIS), University of Colombo. Dr. Wijesundara has contributed to several publications, showcasing her focus on research in metadata modelling for digital archives, metadata aggregation, heritage informatics, geoinformatics, and data standards.
