Joana Rodrigues holds a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Information Science from the University of Porto. In 2024, she completed her PhD in Digital Media, specializing in Data and Information Management, at the same university.

She is currently an invited assistant professor in Information Science at the University of Porto and a researcher at INESC TEC, Porto, where she works in the field of data and information management.

Although she works in various areas of information science, her studies have focused on images as data and metadata, meta-information, the definition of good practices for efficient information management in different organizations, and research data management.

As a professor at the University of Porto, she contributes to the teaching and research missions of the institution.
