    Dr. Ying-Hsang Liu is a researcher specializing in human-centered data science, information retrieval, and knowledge organization. Currently affiliated with the Professorship of Predictive Analytics at Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany, he brings a wealth of international academic experience, having held positions at seven universities across five countries, including the USA, Australia, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Dr. Liu holds a Ph.D. in Information Science from Rutgers University (USA).

    His research focuses on the design and evaluation of interactive information retrieval systems, including modern search engines and AI-based systems, with a strong emphasis on human information behavior. Dr. Liu’s work has been supported by grants from organizations such as the Australian Research Council (ARC), Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), and Airbus. He has authored 65 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, along with two books.

    An active contributor to the academic community, Dr. Liu serves on committees for ASIS&T and ALISE, and is a member of the iSchool Digital Humanities Curriculum Committee and the DCMI Education Committee. He also serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals, including Information Processing & Management, Online Information Review, Journal of Data and Information Management, and Education for Information. Dr. Liu was named a Distinguished Member of ASIS&T in 2022. His work bridges the gap between technology and human-centered design, advancing the development of innovative information systems that enhance user experiences and knowledge discovery.
